What are the rules around using your own car in a driving test?

Embarking on the journey to obtain a driver's license can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. One key aspect that often gets overlooked is the choice of the vehicle for the driving test.

In this blog post, we will delve into the rules and requirements surrounding the use of your own car in a driving test, addressing common queries and ensuring a smoother test experience.

In addition to the aforementioned rules, your car must be taxed, have a current MOT (if it’s over 3 years old). You can check your vehicle's tax and mot status with Regit's free tools. You must also make sure you car is insured for the driving test. Ideally it should also be clean, tidy, and smoke-free.

  • Toyota iQ
