Top 10 Fastest Cars in The World in: 2021
The 10 cars chasing the most decorated title in hypercar production…
10. 2021 Ferrari F8 Tributo - 211 mph

The first of three Ferraris on the list is the F8 Tributo. This mid-engine V8 sports car takes its pedigree from the 488 and 458 predecessors and then turns the volume up to 11. The engine size itself isn’t too biblical, with a modest 3.9 litres of displacement, but what Ferrari have achieved through the use of insanely highly-strung turbochargers is magical. The F8 Tributo will put out a staggering 710 horsepower at 8,000rpm which can take the car to a top speed of 211 mph, with the 0-60 time taking just 2.9 seconds. It comes at a healthy price though, with models starting from £203,476 before adding any options.
9. 2021 Ferrari SF90 Stradale - 211 mph

The next in the list is the SF90 Stradalem which has the same stated top speed as the F8 Tributo but is a slightly different package. This model is a hybrid that combines electric motors with Ferrari’s most powerful V8 engine to produce a combined 1,000 horsepower. The ‘SF’ stands for Scuderia Ferrari - which is the names of Ferrari’s F1 team, while the 90 is a nod to the companies 90th anniversary. While this model may have an equal top-speed to the F8 Tributo, this is a faster accelerating and more dramatic car and, as such, demands a considerably steeper price tag. Well, we say ‘steeper’, it’s almost double. The SF90 Stradale starts from a cool £375,000.
8. 2020 Aston Martin Superleggera - 211 mph

How does a classy-looking Aston Martin with a 715 horsepower V12 engine under its bonnet sound to you? This carbon-bodied Superleggera starts from £225,000 - making it one of the most expensive Aston Martins ever built. The car does share underpinnings with the £150,000 DB11 but this is a wholly different beast. The Superleggera takes a relatively reserved 3.6 seconds to get to 60 mph, but once it’s built up its 700lb-ft of torque the Aston can slingshot itself onto a top speed of 211 mph, rivalling some of the fastest cars on the market.
7. 2021 Ferrari 812 Superfast - 211 mph

The third and final Ferrari in this list comes in the form of the new 812 Superfast - a car which certainly lives up to its name. The 812 Superfast uses Ferraris strongest ever V12 engine, which has 6.5 litres of displacement to curate an obscene 789 horsepower. The Superfast uses a similar engine to its predecessor, the F12 Berlinetta, but with more power, more torque and more ruthlessness. While the top speed and starting price (£260,908) are both pretty epic, what’s most impressive is that all that power is provided by the rear wheels alone. There’s no doubting that this Superfast will be a bit of a handful in the corners, but Ferrari has overcome traction issues by placing 53 per cent of the overall weight over the rear wheels by mounting the gearbox above the rear axle… Super-clever.
6. 2021 Mclaren 720S - 212 mph

The McLaren 720S is a new car that’s been in the making since way back in 2013. It uses a 4.0-litre engine that produces 710 horsepower and can go from 0-62 mph in just 2,9 seconds, 0-124 mph in 7.8 seconds, and 0-186 mph in just 21.8 seconds. Not only is the acceleration aggressive, but it’s also seemingly endless! The 720S can achieve these ridiculous figures thanks to the fact it weighs just 1283 kilograms and has 770 Nm of torque. Like the rest of the cars in this list, the 720S isn’t exactly cheap. You’ll need a spare £215,055 for a brand new one, however, there are some bargains on the used car market.
5. 2021 Ford GT - 216 mph

Finally, the long-awaited return of an all-time great. The first GT was on sale back in 2005 but only 4,038 models were ever built, to the dismay of Le Mans fans across the world. This new model is from a different world of supercars than the original though. It’s a car built around aerodynamics and chassis-technology and it’s lightweight too, with a dry weight of just 1,385 kilograms. Ford interestingly opted for a high-powered V6 engine instead of a V8 and it pushes all that power out via the rear wheels. The GT uses incredibly sophisticated hydraulic suspension which raises and drops when told to do so. The car is just 41.7 inches tall when in its lowest slung ‘race mode’. So how much for all this car? A cool £320,000. Ford does offer famously good PCP deals, however...
4. 2020 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ - 217 mph

The SVJ is the most outrageous and extreme version of the already outrageous and extreme Aventador. It uses a 6.5 litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine which has lots of new lightweight titanium parts to add an extra 20 horsepower on top of the Super Veloce model. The SVJ will launch from 0-124 mph in just 8.6 seconds and on to a frankly absurd 217 mph. This is the real big-boy territory for Hypercars. The 20 horsepower increase over the SV model may not seem like much, but the benefits come from the improved aerodynamics and reduced kerb weight. Only 900 models will be built of the SVJ with a further 63 limited editions. So if you’ve not started saving by now then you’ll do well to get your hands on one. Prices start from £356,000
3. 2021 McLaren Speedtail- 250 mph

The new SpeedTail from McLaren is a limited production hybrid sports car that was first teased back in 2018 but has finally come to fruition. It uses a similar engine to the one found in the 720s but then adds a hybrid powertrain to create a combined 1,036 horsepower. The Speedtail uses a monocoque design made of carbon fibre and the seats are built into the bodywork, which means fewer parts are needed and even greater weight saving gains are made. McLaren has outwardly stated a 250 mph top speed and they claim that the SpeedTail can accelerate from 0-186 mph in just 12.8 seconds. McLaren planned to build about 100 models of the SpeedTail, all of which were sold before being built. The asking price? Roughly £2.1million each.
2. 2020 Bugatti Chiron - 261 mph

You just knew the Bugatti would be along at some point. The Chiron is here to take the crown that was once owned by its now-retired sibling, the Veyron. The Chiron has gone some way to live up to its elder brother reputation, with a top speed limited to 261 mph - just 3mph more than the Veyron ever achieved. Like the Veyron, the Chiron was built to change your perspective on what is physically possible. There are no real adjectives that can do justice to the capabilities of the Chiron. It truly is an engineering masterpiece, it’s also £200,000 cheaper than the McLaren SpeedTail despite being 11mph faster. The Chiron starts from £1.9 million - that’s good value, isn’t it?
1. 2021 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport - 304 mph
And top of the leaderboard is another Chiron, only this time it is the SuperSport. On the 2nd of August 2019, the Chiron SuperSport was the first production car to ever break through the 300 miles per hour barrier. This model uses the same 8.0 Litre, quad-turbo, W16 engine only it now produces a demonic 1,600 horsepower which makes it the production car with the fastest top speed ever. There’s no real barometer to measure good value for a car like this, as there is nothing that comes even close to it in terms of performance or engineering marvel, so Bugatti we free to charge whatever they liked for the Chiron SuperSport. They settled on a healthy £4.2million and only 30 models will ever be built. Talk about exclusivity...
