Genesis Electrified G80 Dynamic (2025 - )

Genesis has given its executive saloon flagship model, the Electrified G80, a facelift for 2025 with a longer wheelbase for extra cabin space and a larger, more powerful battery, which in turn, means additional driving range between charges.

There is just one high-end trim called Dynamic and the Korean company has ditched the petrol version too, so the Electrified G80 is the only option for new customers.

With larger-than-life dimensions and all the technology you could possibly wish for, this car can now cover up to 354 miles on a single charge, increasing to 425 miles of city driving. But all the luxury, comfort and gorgeous styling does come at a price. The Electrified G80 Dynamic starts from £74,800 before options are factored in, and that’s quite a hefty price-tag for a company that’s still trying to get established here in the UK.

With sleek limousine-like styling and stretching more than five metres in length, the Genesis Electrified G80 certainly has plenty of kerb appeal. Up front is a smart diamond-patterned grille that neatly conceals the charging port, plus a new-look front bumper and sweeping light clusters delivering exceptional brightness. There is rear privacy glass, soft-close doors, along with newly-designed 19-inch alloy wheels.
Moving inside, the interior is modern, elegant, upmarket, clutter-free and ultra luxurious with the finest Nappa leather upholstery, soft touch surfaces and high-end fixtures and fittings throughout.
The main focal point is a sweeping 27-inch panoramic infotainment screen that seamlessly connects the driver information, entertainment and navigation screens giving the car a high-tech feel and increasing the amount of information by 30 per cent compared to the outgoing model.
A new three-spoke steering wheel is power-adjustable and can be heated. Additionally, the sumptuous seats are powered, can be heated, ventilated and even offer a massage function.
There is bundles of tech to explore, including a pitch-perfect 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto smartphone connectivity, a reversing camera, DAB radio and plenty more beside. A rotary dial, short cut buttons and the intelligent voice control make it quick and easy to navigate the many functions with a perfect mix of physical and touchscreen controls.
 

The Electrified G80’s battery has increased from 87.2kWh to 94.5kWh and that means extra range with up to 354 miles possible on a single charge. That is on a combined run covering a range of roads, but if you are mainly clocking up city miles, the range increases to 425 miles with the battery topped up by energy recouped during braking.
Dual 136kW motors on the front and rear axles result in the reassurance of all-wheel drive and, with 370PS and 350Nm of torque, this powerhouse can reach 62mph from a standing start in just 5.1 seconds and has a top speed of 139mph.
However, the surprising factor is just how refined the Electrified G80 is. Yes, it’s blisteringly quick, but it feels like its gliding across the Tarmac with the suspension set-up smoothing out all but the most severe bumps and dips along the way. Special mention to the insulation too as barely a sound filters into the luxurious cabin. 
Drive modes called Eco, Comfort, Sport, Snow and Chauffeur alter the dynamics accordingly with the latter mode focusing on back seat refinement with an emphasis on softening the acceleration, braking and suspension settings. 
The vehicle is a confident motorway cruiser sitting effortlessly at 70mph, but is actually composed, balanced and confident when faced with twisting country lanes too. And, in busier towns, the steering wheel paddles can be used to adjust the strength of the regenerative braking, with an i-Pedal setting that is capable of bringing the car to a complete standstill without touching the brakes.
 

The Genesis Electrified G80 is a limousine-like, luxury saloon car that boasts an exceptionally strong road presence. It stretches 5,135mm in length, 1,925mm across including mirrors, 1,480mm tall and has a 3,140mm wheelbase.

The five-metre-plus length means you will need extra-long parking spaces, but the car is fitted with all the parking aids you could wish for, including the Genesis Remote Parking assist system that allows you to move the car out of tight spaces using just the key fob. This is really handy if other motorists have boxed you in at a supermarket car park.

In the UK, the Electrified G80 is only available with the extended wheelbase and that’s great news for occupants, both front and rear, who are treated to oodles of room to stretch out. And with chauffeuring a strong possibility, our test model featured a 2nd Row Comfort Pack, costing an extra £2,640. This introduced heated outer rear seats, soft close doors, and a rear centre armrest with controls for heating and media. There are electric rear window blinds, an electric rear window sun shade, plus vanity mirrors.

The boot is accessed via a powered lid and can swallow 334 litres of kit, which isn’t particularly great. It is quite an odd shape too due to the battery pack eating into the space, but there’s enough room for cases or a few sets of golf clubs. Elsewhere, throughout the cabin, there’s plenty of storage options, such as a glovebox, door bins, a central cubby, front and rear cup holders, a wireless charging pad and some trays.

And speaking of charging, the Electrified G80 boasts an advanced 800-volt architecture, so fast charging is a possibility. That means it takes just 25 minutes to boost the 94.5kWh from 10 to 80 per cent. The same percentage of charge takes 8 hours, 30 minutes if using an 11kW wallbox.

The car offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) for £300 extra meaning it can be used to power up external appliances, such as e-scooters, laptops and lots more besides.

The pricing structure for the Genesis Electrified G80 couldn’t be simpler as there is just one model available here in the UK, costing £74,800. But as the way with premium manufacturers, customers can personalise their vehicles with a whole raft of optional extras and packs. 

And that was the case with our test car, which included a Comfort Pack, costing £1,780, that added ventilation, lumbar support, massage technology and memory functions to the front seats. There was also the 2nd Row Comfort Pack that we have already mentioned, the V2L option, rear-wheel steering, costing £1,120 and a Nappa Leather Seat Pack that added £2,620 to the final price, which had grown to £84,925.

But, with zero carbon emissions, there are financial savings to be made, albeit far less than 12 months ago. That’s because owners now have to pay road tax, which is just £10 for the first year, increasing to the standard charge of £195 after 12 months. 

Additionally, EV owners now have to consider the Expensive Car Supplement too which adds £425 to the annual tax bill from years two to six. This applies to vehicles costing in excess of £40k which clearly includes the Genesis G80.

For added peace of mind, the Korean carmaker enjoys an enviable reputation for reliability and the Electrified G80 comes with a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty package.

The executive saloon sector has some really big hitters from BMW and Mercedes, so getting noticed is always going to be a challenge for a lesser-known brand. That said; the latest Electrified G80 certainly raises the bar with elegant styling, impressive driving dynamics, a beautifully crafted interior that’s packed with technology, along with sublime comfort levels. Factor in the extra cabin space and improved driving range and it’s everything a high-end executive could possibly want from their car and more.
